Need For Speed : ProStreet

Need for Speed: ProStreet is the latest title in the Need for Speed series. On the 21st of May 2007, EA published a teaser trailer of the next Need for Speed, in which the date 31 May, 2007 was mentioned, suggesting that more information would be released at that date, which turned out to be correct. On May 25, 2007, the Polish magazine PLAY printed an article about the upcoming game, calling it Need for Speed: Pro Street, and one of the screenshots included in the article shows a license plate on one of the cars that reads "PROSTREET". This title was confirmed on May 31 when EA announced the game.

Key features of the game, suggested by early rumours and confirmed by the teaser trailer, include very advanced graphics, *realistic damage modelling and more realistic racing, instead of the arcade-like racing of previous titles.
The Realistic Damage Modelling seems to be a very important factor in gameplay. In an interview with the game's producer, he put high emphasis on the idea of gambling with the players skill. "Do you want to push the limit and risk wrecking your car, or just play it easier..."(Game's Producer) Apparently, if you were to total your car, the damage would not simply be erased after the race was completed as we have seen in other games such as Carbon. Also, the director made a strong emphasis on the AI Skill in the game saying that "computer players will be much more difficult capitalizing on any mistake you make." He also added that they can make mistakes as well giving you a chance to wreck their vehicle as well...Because the tracks will all be closed, it is assumed that the races will all be "legal" aliminating the police aspect of the games. A final point is that of tuning the car; apparently, any modifications (including body kits for example, not just preformance parts) can seriously affect the performance of the car.
The game is set for release on October 31, 2007 in North America and early November for other areas.
